Health and safety is everyone’s responsibility. A basic knowledge of health and safety in the workplace is essential to make the workplace safer.

In this course you will explore hazards and risks, common accidents, legislation and the responsibilities of the employer and employee. This means that everyone can take a measured approach to health and safety in the workplace and provide a safe, healthy, and effective work environment.

This course is for employers and employees. Health and safety should be a priority for everyone. 

Course content

Modules you will cover in this Health and Safety in the Workplace (Level 2) Online Training:

  1. Module 1 - Health and safety responsibilities - In this module you will look at current legislation, health and safety at work and employer and employee responsibilities.
  2. Module 2 - Welfare in the workplace. In this module you will look at safe systems, first aid provision, reporting accidents, welfare facilities, fire safety, drugs, alcohol and managing stress.
  3. Module 3 - Slips, trips, falls and hazardous substances - In this module you will look at hazards at work, high risk areas, contributing factors, prevention, working at height, hazardous substances and warning labels.
  4. Module 4 - DSE and manual handling - In this health and safety module you will look at a DSE and TILE assessment, reducing the risk of injury, manual handling, risks, and control measures.
  5. Module 5 - Noise vibration and vehicle safety - In this module you will look at hand arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), common health problems, noise, hearing controls, levels of exposure, vehicle safety and reducing risk.
  6. Module 6 - How to undertake a risk assessment - In this module you will look at managing and assessing risk, the likelihood and severity of risk, likelihood of occurrence, prioritisation, the risk control hierarchy, and barriers.


Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

All of our courses are certified. This is done by the CPD certification Service. They have been inspected by an independent assessor and meet national standards.

Is this course right for me?

Everyone can benefit from having a better understanding of learning disabilities, not just in the workplace but in wider society.  By completing this course many preconceived ideas about learning disabilities may be challenged and you will have a increased understanding of the challenges people face, but also the capabilities of people with learning disabilities.

On completion of this course you will be able to print your CPD certified certificate. This can be used as evidence for compliance, audit or CPD hours.

Do I need to do any extra work?

You will be required to compete a learner file which is available once logged in. This is an enabled PDF so you can type your answer in. You will upload this in your learning area along with your learner registration form. We will then mark your learner file and provide feedback. 

Once this is complete we will put a request in to Open College Network West Midlands for your formal certificate.

How do I get my formal certificate?

This will be posted out to you once we receive it from the awarding body. It is sent recorded delivery.
