This course will highlight the risks associated with sharps, the safe disposal of sharps and how to reduce the risk of injury.


This course is for anyone who has or may have contact with sharps as part of their job role.



Course content

Modules you will cover in this Needles and Sharps online training:
Module 1 - Health and safety responsibilities - In this module you will look at health and safety at work, legislation, COSHH, the risk control hierarchy, RIDDOR, and how employees meet legislative requirements.
Module 2 - Sharps uses, risks and safe disposal - In this module you will look at what are sharps, the use of sharps, the hazards and risks, who is at risk, reducing risk and disposing of sharps.
Module 3 - Sharps injuries - In this module you will look at sharps injuries and what to do in the event of an injury, post exposure prophylaxis (PEP), immunisation and health surveillance.

Do I need to do any extra work?

You will be required to compete a learner file which is available once logged in. This is an enabled PDF so you can type your answer in. You will upload this in your learning area along with your learner registration form. We will then mark your learner file and provide feedback. 

Once this is complete we will put a request in to  AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group for your formal certificate.

How do I get my formal certificate?

This will be posted out to you once we receive it from the awarding body. It is sent recorded delivery.
