17,000 people in the UK suffer deafness, ringing in the ears of other ear conditions caused by excessive noise at work. This course will help you to understand how the ear is affected by excessive noise and the effects.


There is legislation in place to protect workers, Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Control of Noise Regulations 2005 which we cover; including Exposure Action Values (EAV) and the impact of noise reduction.


We explore job roles and factors which expose workers to excessive noise and look at risk reduction strategies to lower noise levels.



Course content

Modules you will cover in this Noise Awareness Online Training:
Module 1 - In this module we will look at how the ear is affected by noise, the effects of noise, what hearing loss sounds like and job roles which expose workers to high levels of noise.
Module 2 - In this module we will cover legislation to protects workers, including Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, Control of Noise Regulations 2005. We will explore Exposure Action Values (EAV) and the impact of noise reduction.
Module 3 - In this module we will focus on risk assessment and noise reduction including, elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE. In addition, we will look at employee responsibilities, maintenance and use of hearing protection and health surveillance.
