Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, a; employers have a responsibility to ensure their employees’ health and safety whilst at work.
Risk assessments are an extremely important part of this. Knowing how to complete a good risk assessment will help you to identify, prioritise and put risk mitigation strategies in place.
This course is for anyone that needs to carry out a risk assessment as part of their role. The skills learnt will help you to understand different approaches and techniques for risk management and assessment.
This course contains the following modules:
1. Legislation and Responsibility - In this module you will look at all legislation that underpins health and safety and managing and accessing risk, RIDDOR and consequences of accidents.
2. Identifying hazards - In this module you will look at 5 steps to risk assessment, risk assessment techniques, spotting hazards and who might be harmed and how.
3. Likelihood and severity of risk - In this module you will look at likelihood of occurrence, severity of risk, risk scores, high risk areas, good housekeeping, prevention, and environmental issues.
4. Risk reduction and mitigation - In this module you will look at risk control hierarchy, personal protective equipment, low, medium, and high risk, barriers, reviewing, monitoring, and recording.
5. Dynamic risk assessment - When dealing with hostile or challenging behaviour you need to be able to assess the risk quickly, this is when a dynamic risk assessment comes into play.
This course takes learners approx 2 hours to complete.
