Module 1 - Causes, symptoms and effects of HAVS - In this module you will look at what hand arm vibration is, the types of equipment that can put people at risk of hand arm vibration syndrome, how vibration is measured, daily exposure limit values and the legislation protecting employees.
Module 2 - HAVS risk assessment- In this module you will look at assessing risk of HAVS via a risk assessment. Under the Health and Safety at Work Regulations employers must manage risks in the workplace. We will cover the 5 steps of risk assessment; Identify the hazards, who might be harmed and how, evaluating risks, recording findings, review and update.
Module 3 - Risk reduction - In this module will look at ways to reduce risks, this includes the obligations of tool manufacturers, selecting and purchasing tools, maintenance of tools and machinery, reducing exposure time, reducing vibration transmission, training and communicating advice to employees, safe working practices, PPE and health surveillance.
