Summary of course: Dementia is an umbrella term for a range of progressive conditions that affect the brain. Regardless of which type of dementia is diagnosed and what part of the brain is affected, each person will experience dementia in their own unique way.
Our dementia awareness online course will help you to understand the different types of dementia and how it affects the individual. We also cover risk factors and other conditions which may lead to dementia. The common core principles look at the workforce and what they should know about dementia, including support and help for those with dementia.
Modules you will cover in this an introduction to resident involvement online training
- An introduction to dementia- In this dementia awareness module will cover the how the brain is affected by dementia and the impact on individuals. We look at risk factors and the statistics behind dementia.
- Types of dementia- In this dementia awareness module you will look at the different types of Dementia; Alzheimer’s disease, Vascular dementia, Mixed dementia, Dementia with Lewy Bodies, Frontotemporal dementia, Mild cognitive impairment, Young onset dementia and other conditions with may lead to dementia.
- Diagnosis and support - In this dementia awareness module will cover the dementia diagnosis process, Common Core Principles and ways to support someone with dementia (both in the home and external agencies).
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
All of our courses are certified. This is done by the CPD certification Service. They have been inspected by an independent assessor and meet national standards.
